Super Moon(beams). National Photo Month, Day 6

Saturday evening, the moon was about 15,300 miles closer to Earth than it will be at any other time in 2012. This magnificent lunar event, which causes the moon to appear about 14 percent bigger than normal,  is known as Super Moon.

My moon shots were not that great. I didn't pull out the tripod, so my handheld attempts left a lot to be desired. But, just to note the occasion, here's one shot I took of Super Moon surrounded by clouds. I added a little texture for interest.

To see some truly magnificent photos of Super Moon, check out this slide show.

Make it a great day!

  2. Well I think your texturized moon shot is great ... envious cause it started pouring rain here at dusk ... my tripod is still sitting by the door because I had hoped to capture the super moon. So I'll try tonight as it should still be full and bright. Your photo has such a moody feel, in a good way.
