Some Like it Hot, Some Like it Cold

Things have been crazy busy at work and in life lately, which has dramatically cut into my thrifting, blogging and crafting time.

A few weeks ago, we made a trip to Illinois to visit my husband's parents after his dad had a medical procedure. We did get away for a short time to check out a sale in a beautiful red barn on the outskirts of the city. Lots of wonderful antiques and vintage items to choose from. We found these wonderful Thermos to add to our collection. They are in great condition and the prices were amazingly reasonable.

It's thrilling to find the older ones that have the cork stoppers.

My daughter and her boyfriend picked up this pretty steel Thermos with its (once again) trendy aqua lid. I picked up the plaid version at a recent estate sale.

So what does Barney have to do with Thermos collecting? Absolutely nothing. I just threw in this photo because Barney's so cute. Now that spring's arrived, he's enjoying romping in the grass and playing with his stick. Just as the toddler who would rather play with a cardboard box than an expensive toy, Barney would rather chew a stick than his red rubber bone.

Make it a great day!

    1. My husband's parents live in Moline. My husband went to Rock Island HS. I believe I saw this sale advertised on Craigslist as "Red Barn Sale." It was listed as being in Milan, but it was on the outskirts in a fabulous old barn. The proprietors said they do a sale there about once a month except in winter. Are you close to the Quad Cities?

  9. Ann, Barney is adorable. What is it about Black dogs, they all have that wonderful, loving look on their faces. I am sure that Barney and Rufus would love to play together if we lived closer. I love your thermos collection, it takes me back to camping with my grandparents. Thanks for stopping by my blog, I love meeting everyone and visiting them too.

Have a lovely day , Barney too.

  11. Wow -- didn't even know they USED CORK stoppers in those things at one time -- ewww :) I love these old thermoses -- they remind me of my childhood! You're set up as a 'no-reply' blogger so I couldn't respond to your question about the junk place :) Yes, it's near the quad cities -- it's in Fulton, IL. We take 30W through Morrison and there is a point where you take 136 to the right toward Fulton. It's just down that road and you can't miss it -- let me know if you ever get there -- I'd love to see what you find!

  12. Barney IS so cute! Our puppies are the same way. They'd rather chew on ANYTHING other than their chew toys. ;)
