Shirtsleeves, Shorts and Sandals

When I left work this evening, the outside temperature was 68. At 5:30 p.m. On January 30. In Nebraska.

Out on the street, pedestrians were in shirtsleeves and shorts. When I stopped at Trader Joe's on the way home, a couple of folks had bared their tootsies in sandals that have been buried in their closets since October.

To commemorate today's record-breaking temps, I'm sharing some photos of our vintage advertising thermometers. I think the inside temperature reflected on these wonderful old advertisements was about the same as it was outside.

Global warming, anyone?

Make it a great day!

  1. I like the pictures on the vintage thermometers!

  2. Ann,
It's been pretty warm here also. Makes me so ready for spring! The thermometers are very cool!
    Thanks for visiting!

  3. Such wonderful pictures with the thermometers. It was warm here in Michigan yesterday also. I loved it! Hope you are having a wonderful week.

  4. We are feeling the same
    amazement here in MN!
    The mildest winter since
    we moved here 11 years
    ago. A blessing, really : )
    Thank you for your VERY
    kind comments on my
    blog, last week. Enjoy
    these glorious days!

    xx Suzanne

  5. 68!!! Wow I am jealous!! My little hippie snow girl would definitely be gone...LOL...Boy these thermometers bring back memories...I remember one in Grammy's kitchen by the window...I loved that room!! I agree about the global warming! have a great weekend!! :)

  6. What a fun collection! We aren't as warm here...68 sounds really nice, but with 40 in Minnesota right now...I'll take it! We usually have several feet of snow on the ground right now...and I see grass!

  7. Never have seen these before. I love them and they make for a cool temperature. It has been warmer here the last two day, but that is changing over the weekend.

  8. These are really neat! I remember my grandma's brother had these in his room, I think from a butane company he worked for. I have not seen them or thought about them in years!! Happy VTT

  9. Ann, You always have the best vintage items, love the thermometers. We have had warm weather here too, 50 degrees. My crocuses are coming up and I have buds on my rose bush, this is about 2 or 3 months early. Hope it does not get supper cold now. Thanks for stopping by, Laura

  10. Wow, you've described what winters are like here in Southern California! lol Except you're in Nebraska!!! Wow, amazing warm temps!!! I hope you were enjoying the sunny weather! :) Wishing you a lovely weekend.

  11. It's been milder than usual in my part of Canada, but certainly not as warm as Nebraska. There goes my snow-covered image of your state in the winter! Thank you for linking to "Sunlit Sunday" this week. Welcome!

  12. We had a milder Winter until this week. Now we have the snow.

  13. Makes you wonder what's in store for summer, doesn't it? I could stand a winter again with very little snow.

  14. Very nicely done!!! Beautiful pictures!!! Cathy

  15. Enjoy that warm weather and could you maybe send us a little cold no winter here equals bugs ...
    hugs from Savannah, Cherry

  16. Everyone is commenting about their weather which is great when one is stuck inside looking out at the wind blowing and snow whirling. It is cold and snowy one day, sunny the next than back to snowy and cold. I would just rather it be cold and stay that way for the season, but we take what we get of course. Plenty of time for crafting here.
